Dogtown Clash ‘Hole In My Head’ FT MC SirReal (Westway)
HOLE IN MY HEAD sees DOGTOWN once again call on the vocal dexterity of MC
SirReal, who last appeared with the guys on FREAK in 2007. SirReal really
gets his vocal inside your head, and the massive Van Helden-style electroid
riff is a completely sick. This is a big, big room track.
Dogtown Clash have been inactive f or a couple of years, with – The hardest
working man in showbiz- BARRY ASHWORTH concentrating on his DUB PISTOLS
stuff and BILLY BOREZ relaunching ZERO B. But what a way to return, and kick
off the run-in to the release of their album! With its catchy UNKLE-esque
vocal hook and revved-to-the-max riff, the original has already been
acclaimed by various DJs, with EDDY TEMPLE MORRIS from XFM calling it: The
best thing they have ever done. When you think that Eddy¹s most played track
ever on XFM is Dogtown Clash WEST LONDON’S BURNING, that is quite an
accolade. Other early support has come from the STANTON WARRIORS and BEAT
ASSASSINS.
The Westway guys have put together a big international remix package for
this baby. Florida breaks dude PAUL FARACE turns in a corking revamp, while
SANGERS AND RA from Australia also take their mix down a broken rhythms path
while keeping fairly faithful to the original.
Electro fiend IDC, meanwhile, flips the script for hi s ghetto electro disco
rejig, and KOUNCILHOUSE employs the screaming synths in his sink estate
reworking. Finally, NILS JUMPEN (France) supplies a jaunty, squelchy
electronic house take which kinda recalls Riva Starr in all his cheeky
glory.
This release is all set to be one of Westway¹s biggest yet. What is more,
there¹s even a bootleg video that someone (the mysterious MR REXLEY) has
done floating around online, helping to spread the gospel virally. The
Westway crew say they have no clue as to how he got hold of the track, but
are happy enough with the tribute vid to allow it to be used on blogs.
