Flying Lotus – Lover’s Melt 2 Mixtape (July 2011)

Lovers Melt 2 will hopefully be part of your summer sound. Some of my favorite songs ever.. Some you know, some you might not.
Noisia ‘Machine Gun’ (16bit Remix) used in Transformers 3 trailer!

It seems that dubstep has come a long way since FWD’s explosion onto the London club scene in 2001. From the skyrocketing careers of the global megastar DJs who led the first dubstep revolution, to major label record deals, pop artists clamouring for some bass-injected street appeal and now 16bit’s incredible remix of Noisia’s ‘Machine Gun’ being thrust into the world of Hollywood blockbusters.
That’s right, the latest trailer for Michael Bay’s third Hasbro-inspired movies features the immense remix that had clubs shaking this time last year, churning and whirling its way through intense fight scenes between robots the size of trucks. We can’t really think of a more apt soundtrack for an interstellar war orchestrated by the evil Decepticons, and it seems the music supervisors for Transformers: Dark of the Moon agree!
Pitchfork Mix / Exclusive Direct Album Pre-Orders!
Just a quick one to say that I did a mix for the legendary Pitchfork to help celebrate the launch of my collaborative album ‘Joint Ventures’, in which I work with people like Ginz, Jack Sparrow, Untold, Gemmy, Roska, Guido and a bunch more, and which has got love from heads such as Mary Anne Hobbs, Mistajam, JD Twitch, Crookers, Starkey, Simbad, DJ Flight and Om Unit.
The album is out now to buy direct from www.buildrecordings.com – buying direct not only cuts out the middlemen and gives greater support to independent artists and labels, in this case it also means that for less than the price of a digital download, you get the (beautiful) physical CD plus a full high quality digital download of the album, including all the extra digital bonus tracks… I spoil you!
Anyways, here’s the mix, which sees me go from Deep House to D’n'B via hyphy, bass and techno in 42 minutes and has plenty of dubs, album cuts and classic vinyls ripped from my collection: http://pitchfork.com/forkcast/
Here’s a full album stream over at FACT: http://www.factmag.com/
