After dropping out of high school at the age of 16, Doja Cat committed herself to her music career, even if she struggled to keep her songs on SoundCloud! But recently, she’s facing some serious social media backlash on Twitter due to an old song that recently resurfaced as well as some controversial comments she made in a chat room. There are some now-former fans who are calling for her career to be over, but others say they won’t stop listening to her, especially since she has a song with Ariana Grande coming out in the near future! This star made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 and has huge hits like “Say So” and “Candy,” the latter of which started a huge viral TikTok challenge. When Ebro Darden addressed her current controversy, Twitter went after him too, making some fans question how this will impact the amazing career of Amalaratna Dlamini. But some believe there’s no way the internet will really cancel the person who gave us the song “Mooo!”
What do you think about the concept of cancel culture and how it pertains to this situation? Do you think this star needs to take a major step back or will her career continue on like it always has?
