Top 10 Largest Animals In The
World
Mother nature loves to give us a little bit of a variety when it comes to her creatures. You have the minuscule, the
regular-sized, the big, and the gigantic. All of which are very stunning in their own way, even though some can be a
bit on the hideous and terrifying side.
This is 100M, and in this video, we are going to be talking about the top ten largest animals in the world. Make
sure to keep your eyes peeled for what we have at number one; you’ll find out the world’s largest animal and how
it’s as large as over thirty elephants. You don’t want to miss that.
#10 Japanese spider crab
The Japanese spider crab can be a tad bit confusing. That’s because it’s literally called a spider and then a crab. In
reality, it’s just a crab that looks a whole lot like a spider. As if gigantic crabs weren’t freakish enough.
The Japanese spider crab has a round body that is covered all over with spiky projections while its legs are long and
slim and, of course, clawed. What’s a water monster without claws, huh? The Japanese spider crab is so typically
large that it can grow as large as 15 inches wide, and it can get as massive as 44 pounds. Imagine that size on a
crab.
Although the spider crab sounds like a creature you would find in Ben 10’s watch, the Omnitrix, the Japanese
spider crab is actually a pretty easygoing creature. They just look scary for the fun of it.
#9 Chinese giant salamander
The Chinese giant salamander is one of the world’s most critically endangered species on the brink of extinction.
The Chinese giant salamander is the world’s largest living amphibian, and it can grow to be as long as 6 feet and
can weigh as much 55 pounds to 66 pounds in adulthood.
This species has been around for so long that it’s no wonder they have started to die out. More to that effect is the
fact that the Chinese consider them a fantastic delicacy and have even encouraged salamander farming in some
areas. Many organizations are fighting hard to keep the species alive, and the fact that they still are is a miracle
and proof that they are doing something right.
#8 Green anaconda
If you have seen “Anaconda” the movie and you got to witness Jennifer Lopez racing through the Amazon
rainforest being chased by a gigantic anaconda, then you have a pretty great idea about this animal right here.
Although technically, Hollywood did overdo it and blow the snakes out of proportion, green anacondas are
unbelievably huge.
The green anaconda is typically found in South America and is pound for pound, the largest snake ever discovered
in the world. These slithering beasts can grow to be as long as 29 feet- that is times the length of a London
bus and times the height of a telephone pole. They can weigh more than five hundred and fifty pounds and
measure up to 12 inches in diameter.
It’s not rocket science to figure out that these bad boys can eat just about anything; wild pigs, deer, caimans, and
even jaguars. Whew. These snakes are not venomous and, instead, subdue their prey by constriction. Researchers
say that green anaconda attacks are very rare, but I still wouldn’t go looking for one either way.
#7 Giraffes
And here come the tallboys and girls of the wild, wild, west. Giraffes are known for their incredible height and are
pegged as the world’s tallest living terrestrial animals thanks to their super-long necks and legs. These tallies are
almost all neck, all neck, and no in-between.
These fascinating animals are typically found roaming open grasslands in small groups of about six and use their
incredible height to their advantage when feeding. They eat the topmost twigs of trees, enjoying a great buffet
where almost no other animal can reach. These animals are also gluttons and can eat hundreds of pounds of
leaves in a week.
Giraffes can grow to be as tall as 14 feet tall and weigh as much as two thousand four hundred pounds to over four
thousand pounds. Calves are born massive already and can be as heavy as a hundred and fifty-five pounds. These
tall creatures definitely pack some weight with all that height.
#6 Saltwater crocodile
The next on this list is the mean old predators of the water. Saltwater crocodiles or salties as they are
affectionately called are typical to northern Australia, Southeast Asia, and eastern India. They have been deemed
the planet’s largest living crocodilian species and can grow to unbelievable sizes.
They are opportunistic predators, which means that active hunting is not their style. They simply wait for the right
time and the right moment for some unknowing prey to walk by or stop in the water to grab a drink of water.
