The Guide Dog Foundation 75th anniversary video shares the story of our history from the establishment of our guide dog program in 1946 through today to illustrate how we help our people who are blind or visually impaired live without boundaries.
The video opens with footage of individuals meeting their new guide dogs, with additional scenes of handlers walking with their dogs along city streets, inside retail stores, and in the mall. We then transition into vintage sepia footage along with black and white photos from the Foundation’s early years. Clips include footage of instructors working with some of our first students on our campus in Smithtown, and around local Long Island neighborhoods.
The historical footage segues into current-day color video, featuring aerial footage of the campus and takes the viewer through the different areas of our campus, including the residence hall, puppy nursery, and training center. The video goes on to highlight our volunteer puppy raising community with clips of a puppy raising class, dogs playing with their raiser, obedience training, and more.
From there, the film transitions to feature aspects of our programs, including guide dog mobility instructors training future guide dogs, students working with their dogs, and our canine care and veterinarian staff taking care of our puppies and dogs.
The film then shows still images of our partnerships with NBC, the NHL, and our visit to Nasdaq. The video closes with additional drone footage of our campus, and more video of trainers, volunteers, and guide dog students. As a Guide Dog Foundation van passes from right to left, the words “Celebrating 75 Years” and the Guide Dog Foundation logo appear, followed by our website.
